It’s a question we get asked by business owners all the time.
At Abundance Global, we have worked with a lot of business owners and entrepreneurs over the years. These individuals simply don’t have the time to focus their energy on everything. There is only so much one person can do. As a business owner, who should you be focusing your limited time on? Your clients, or your team?
The answer is to stop thinking binary.
When someone starts a business, they have to focus on accumulating and retaining clients. Without clients, you would have no business. This attitude is necessary as you establish your business and your customer base.
But focusing on clients won’t allow you to scale your business over the long term.
As a business owner, you need to spend less time worrying about the needs of your individual customers. Your role shift as your business scales up. Once your business has grown big enough you need to stop focusing on your clients and focus on your team.
It is your teams’ job to focus on the clients.
Your job is to support your team and ensure they can do their job to the best of their ability. As long as you can provide guidance, tools and training your team, they will be able to support your clients.
As long as your team are successfully supporting your clients, those clients will continue to support the business – which in turns supports you, the business owner.
Everyone must work together to ensure all parts of the business are functioning at their best. Ultimately the choice shouldn’t be between your clients or your team, it’s about supporting the other.
Your business can grow to have a big impact on your team, as well as your clients. This is how you grow a remarkable business. On the flip side, if you aren’t trusting and focusing on your team, your business will stagnate.
